Internship: Wooga

As part of my study in Game Engineering I completed a 5 month internship at Wooga, a games studio based in Berlin Germany.

I was placed in a project team working on an upcoming release for android/iPhone called Tropicats, a free-to-play casual puzzle game combining match-3 and isometric city-building as its core mechanics.

I joined the team when the project was in the late production phase and my main tasks were to create a tutorial system to introduce players to the game mechanics, create an audio system that handles playback of all sound effects and music in the game, with easy to use custom editors for designers to use. In addition, I also worked on modifying and polishing features as the game approached technical soft-launch.

During my time at Wooga I had the opportunity to learn from experienced unity engineers from around the world and work in a team of wonderful designers and artists. In Addition to improving on my technical skills as an engineer I also learned about the mobile games industry as a whole and the many different aspects (user acquisition, A/B testing, tracking, marketing, etc.) that goes into developing commercially viable games in a competitive industry.
